Our success has been built on trust, integrity, and delivering our customers’ unique innovative requirements THE OPPORTUNITY: The AOI Specialist will be responsible for developing robust Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) programs for assembled printed circuit boards as well as perform the general duties of an AOI operator when required. The role will provide training to AOI operators on all aspects related to proper software and machine operation, daily/weekly preventative maintenance and monitoring on effectiveness of AOI programs and operator performance. The AOI Specialist will work closely with Engineering and other cross-functional teams to make recommendations for product and process improvements to help support and propagate a continuous improvement mentality. The AOI specialist role will be well-versed with component package identification and verify based on the IPC-A-610 standard and its specifications. Close monitoring and control of AOI processes is critical to ensure manufacturing defects from upstream processes are escalated to the appropriate personnel to work towards an ultimate goal of defect-free manufacturing. RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Create and maintain Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) programs to meet/exceed requirements
  • Interpret AOI data and make recommendations for product and process improvements
  • Train applicable staff on proper software and machine operation with strict adherence to AOI procedures
  • Validate training, frequent monitoring and evaluation of AOI operator performance to ensure adequacy
  • Perform preventative maintenance on AOI equipment and program library back-ups
  • Collaborate with Engineering on AOI programming methodology to improve inspection reliability
  • Ensure compliance to IPC Standards and specifications though visual confirmation via AOI equipment
  • Manage AOI Quality Alert reporting tool to ensure information is disseminated to applicable staff
  • Provide proactive support to Operators/Inspectors to correct, predict, and avoid future concerns
  • Perform functional role of AOI Operator as required
  • Operate X-ray equipment, create X-ray inspection routines and perform Final Inspection duties when required
  • SMT Operation as required
  • Utilize DSM’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure process and product conformity
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives with cross-functional teams
  • Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-5 years experience in a Contract Electronics Manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Previous quality and/or inspection experience would be a benefit\
  • Software programming experience is an asset
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Able to develop and implement training to improve knowledge base
  • Strong desire to learn and continually develop
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong initiative to accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment
